I woke up the other morning and as I went to pull the curtains back, I realized what a beautiful day it was outside. A cool breeze was blowing, so I picked up my throw blanket and headed out to my porch swing. I sat there a little while and soaked up the beauty of the morning. I thanked God for the wonderful flowers and the little birds. I don’t understand the reason for bugs, but I don’t have to. God made them, that is good enough for me.
I watched our dogs running around the yard and I got tickled at them. They are like children. The father dog, Rowdy is older and he knows our home is his domain. He was running around checking every area of our yard, like he normally does. Scrappy, the boy dog was right beside him, following his every move. It was kind of funny, like a cartoon with the puppy saying something like, “What you doing Daddy, what you doing? Can I go? Can I, Can I? I will be good Daddy; I want to go with you!” Sometimes Scrappy is so close to him, he can hardly walk. Rowdy doesn’t seem to mind, he just lets him follow, as if to show him the way things are to be done.
It’s amazing how you can find spiritual comparisons in anything. I looked at those dogs and thought, Lord; I want to be that close to you. I want to go where you go, do what you will have me do. I want to make you proud. Everywhere is God’s domain! I want to see everything He has for me. I can just picture myself walking along beside Jesus, soaking up everything He tells me.
I realize that being in His presence is what it takes, just to make it through everyday life. Staying right by His side all the time and saying,” Can I go Lord? Show me the way!” I have found that in almost every situation or circumstance, the Lord can show me a spiritual side and use it to help me learn and grow. He taught using parables in the Bible. So I look for those comparisons all around me. Those are very special moments for me, because I know the Lord is drawing me to teach me something new.
Matthew 13:34
Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.
Acts 2:28
You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’
