Testimonies
Whilst I was at home, one evening, a close family member rang me.
Someone I had not heard from in a while. So it was nice to just talk.
After being on the phone for just under an hour my friend told me something that completely blew me away.
She has been a Christian for as long as she can remember, God has always been part of her life.
She has a real, honest deep relationship with him. She will cry to him, tell him when she is sad, when she feels hurt, let down, alone.
She had been going through a very difficult period with her finances, working all the hours possible to make ends meet. Barely earning enough to pay the mortgage, bills etc, and then food.
I know this, because it is my mother.
She is a very private person, and does not air her woes and never expects sympathy. She always puts others first, and is always there to hear you, whatever she may be going through.
She was in constant worry, her jobs were never secure. She was realistically out of work twice, working her redundancy notice, whilst trying to find a new job at the same time. This, while trying to pay bills, and work constant hours was very draining.
This period was over about 4 and half 5 years.
God always found her new work, but the stress was beginning to show.
With the worry of another closure of where she worked, and not having money to pay her bills it was taking its toll.
She reminded me of a time, when all this began of when I gave her a small gift. I was, at the time, working in a Christian book shop. A small magnet caught my eye.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know he plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil. Plans to give you a hope and a future.
My mom held onto Gods word and this verse.
Two weeks prior to her ringing me, she was so upset, she took the small magnet, and a large piece of paper, and wrote the verse on it in large letters.
She called out to God in her despair.
"Is this the future I have? Is this my hope, I have nothing left! I cannot continue living like this, I barely have enough money for food. I’m too tired. Where is my future? Where is it?"
My mom carried on with her house work, and being someone, who when she hears from God, she hears him very clear.
‘ You have some money coming in soon’
A few days later, she received a letter.
It was from the tax office. Now, that in itself is rarely a good sign.
She opened it.
They owed her one and a half grand.
My mom, used to letters from them, demanding money, rang them.
It was correct. She had money owed.
A few days later, she had another letter.
Trying to find her glasses, she read it.
The closure of her old workplace meant she was owed money, this was from 5 years ago.
She had given up waiting for this money, and never expected much. If and when it ever did accumulate.
The money she receieved in that cheque was enough for her to walk into the bank that very day and pay off her mortgage. Not only that, the amount she received was nearly over three times the amount she was expecting.
My mom said she was so shocked she could barely find the words. Knowing the house was paid for, the big expenditure she would no longer have to pay each month, the security of knowing the house was now hers.
She apologised to God and thanked him for his love and provision.
This story blessed my heart, lifted my spirits and reminded me who is sovereign.
It’s so easy to remember Gods goodness when things are going great for us, when we have enough money. When we can go out and spend it on nice things. It’s also very easy to forget all of Gods goodness and provision over our lives when things are not so great. The times when we truly, honestly have to wait on him, when we are living on the breadline and only his provision will get us through.
As Christians we are told to rejoice in our sufferings. Hard it may seem, difficult it can be. God is God, He is worthy of Praise, regardless.

This is a beautiful testimony. It brought tears to my eyes. There are so many stories that show the mysterious ways God provides for us. You did have a couple of minor typos. They are little thing like Gods word should be God's word. Your message is lovely.
