For close to forty years, Moses reared Jethro’s flock with a rod in his hand. Time without number the rod had fell off his hand without turning to anything. But when God ordered him to drop in (divine instruction), it turned to snake.

“And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee”. Exodus 4:2-5

What are the things that motivate you to do what you do? Are you doing it because someone else is doing it or because God ordered you to do it? Do you know that two people can do the same thing, in the same way, at the same time, with the same resources, using the same knowledge and strength, and yet get different results?

When God was leading the Israelites out of Egypt, He led them through the red sea. Without ship, canoes or swimming ability, they crossed the red sea on a dry land and got to the other side of the sea. The Egyptians ventured to cross the same sea just as Israelites did, but they all drown. Why did one successfully crossed and the other sank while crossing? No, it is not because of their professional differences! It is because one was acting by divine order while the other was not.

What has God commanded you to do? However foolish it appears, if you can simply obey, you will experience the kind of miracle you have never imagined possible.

The problem many are facing today is inability to understand the voice of God. Have you trained yourself to discern God’s voice when He speaks to you? If God is indeed you Father, them you must learn to hear, understand and obey His voice.

AND WHEN HE PUTTETH FORTH HIS OWN SHEEP, HE GOETH BEFORE THEM, AND THE SHEEP FOLLOW HIM: FOR THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. AND A STRANGER WILL THEY NOT FOLLOW, BUT WILL FLEE FROM HIM: FOR THEY KNOW NOT THE VOICE OF STRANGERS. John 10:4-5.

How could you hear, understand and obey God’s voice and achieve your desired result in life if you are not His child? It requires you giving your life to Jesus to do this. Then you can start learning to discern His voice and obey it. Remember, God’s promises are going to be fulfilled in your life when you meet certain conditions of obedience.
