Meditation and Prayer

As we live our lives in this world of turmoil and uncertainty, we often find ourselves spending little time in meditation with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our days are so crowded with business and our evenings fill with all types of pleasures that the very idea of getting off by ourselves for a time of communication with our Lord is often put off till later. We are so driven by our tasks that we have little time to really live and enjoy the wonders and blessings God has given us.

Our fathers and grand fathers were not so distracted by the world, as they found time and opportunities for thought about things that really count. They did not have TV and they could read serious books and really enjoy reading the Bible. They knew the Bible and fed upon the Word. The family had a Family Bible around which they would gather the family for Meditation and Prayer. We still have the family Bible dating back to 1812 and it weighs over twelve pounds with much of the family history recorded. \

Since Meditation is not mentioned often in our churches of today, we should realize it is not the hasty reading of the Bible. It is the serious -- Analyzing, Digesting, and Acting On, the Bible's Holy Truths which makes them sweet and profitable to our soul. It is not he who reads most, but he who mediates most -- and really looks into God's Word that makes for a strong Christian.

Meditation is almost like, we become acquainted with heaven before we arrive there and do our best to walk in the footsteps of our Lord, as we raise our families.

We see in the Bible; 1 Timothy 4:15 -16" Meditate upon these things, give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them; for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."

The English King James version of the Bible this year is 400 years old and our country founders some 200 years ago placed their faith in the Lord. We still use the Bible to swear in the leaders of our nation. at all levels of government. In "God We Trust" is found on our coins and dollar bills as this great nation is reminded of Gods gracious love for all of us.

Trust this Sunday will find us praising and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ in the church of our choice. God Bless America
