DO YOU REALLY CARE?

We say we believe,
But do we really care...
That people are crying, starving, dying
Out there?

“Yes, I do believe, I do care,
But what can I do?
Where can I begin?”

Jesus said, “Begin where you are, with your neighbour...”
“Who is my neighbour, the family next door,
Across the street,
Around the corner?

“Perhaps they don’t need me; they have a nice house,
A fancy car, enough to eat, fine clothes.”
True, but open your eyes.
The one in need is your neighbour.

It’s not about how much, or how big, or who;
It’s about a cup of cold water,
Or an arm around the shoulder
Or a whispered word that says, “I care.”

“Inasmuch as you did it to the least of these, my brothers,
You did it to me.”

Do you see the eyes of Jesus
Through the glaze of pain?
Do you recognise His frame
In the rags of hopelessness and despair?

He’s your neighbour
And He needs you.
