IT ALL DEPENDS

When you step out in the morning
What do you see, feel, smell, hear?

Clouds scudding across a clear blue sky,
the wind sighing through the trees,
the fragrance of flowers
children’s happy laughter...
Or

Do you see...
weeds, litter,
uncut pavements, potholes, dirt, mess, squalor?

It all depends
on what’s in your heart.

When you come home from a hard day’s work
what do you see, feel, hear?

Cheery greetings from your son,
your daughter’s A+ achievement
your husband’s warm embrace
Or

Do you see...
piles of dirty laundry, untidy bedrooms,
scattered toys, unwashed dishes,
uncut lawn, overgrown flower beds...?

It all depends
on what’s in your heart.
