In my search for a Church to serve as Pastor I have noticed that many search committees look for Pastors with a long list of credentials and Years of experience. It seems to me they are missing a valuable resource that make a Pastor ok or, outstanding. That would be real life experience.

When Jesus started calling his disciples he did not choose Chief Priests or Scribes or even scholars for that matter, he choose those that were everyday men, laborers with good Godly hearts. He then trained them in the word and what his father wanted. Peter was a fisherman, Paul one of the bibles leading evangelists, was a persecutor of Christians, and a tent maker. All were trained by Jesus and lead by the Holy Spirit. These 1st Christians were effective because, like Jesus they could apply their teachings to real life in those days.

Today even though there are some real good Seminaries, Pastors are taught so much information they forget they need a loving and passionate heart to preach. Those who have been called may not be seminary educated, but their faith is real and they have applied it in their own lives. They have the education and training that can only come from God through the Holy Spirit. They speak with passion and conviction because their calling is true from the heart. I know many like myself who have no seminary education, but their Churches are growing vibrant communities that show the Love of God and what it truly means to belong to a community of believers.

So before you discount the non-seminarian, find out what this person believes, see if he is truly led by the Spirit. You may find someone who will inspire your church, to give it the heart that has been lacking; you will need to be somewhat cautious since there are false prophets out there even those from a Christian seminary may be false. However, if you limit your search you will limit your results, and limit your choices. The more choices the better the lord is able to lead you to that leader he has called to your ministry. God will bless your search and you will glorify him with a growing Ministry.
