Of a kid who was bruised
A kid who was beat
A kid who wanted to be street
A poor soul searching for answers
A poor soul searching for peace lasting
Allow me to give some news
Of a man who also was bruised
A man who was beat
A man who wanted to give peace
A poor soul who was searching for sinners
A poor soul who was searching for pledge givers
Someone who gave sight
Someone who gave sound
Who brought light
Who wanted the lost to be found
Conquered death
Rose from the grave
Who’s eternal breath
That gave
Lasting peace
Answers that save
A way off the street
A break from the beating
A healing touch to the bruises
To the kid who happened
To give a pledge
To search for sinners
To bring news of peace
To those who are beat
And bruised
Allow me to give some news
That this man was Jesus
And the kid He saved
This kid was me.
And this news is the gospel
