In recent years, the Youth Ministry has become one of the most critical and vital parts of the church. As Youth Pastors and Leaders, many toiling hours are spent instructing, nurturing, and training our youth to become prominent leaders within our society. Our Youth Pastors and Leaders recognize that the seeds planted today are an investment in our society’s future.

As a Youth Leader, the work of the ministry requires us to plant seeds. We all can vividly remember the impact of the seed that was implanted within us at an early age. In order to successfully build upon God’s kingdom, a seed must be planted for the great harvest. But before you can reap the harvest, work is involved. The strong misconception is that working with the Youth Ministry is one of the easiest facets of the church to volunteer your time and your efforts. Being a worker within Youth Ministry, it requires true leadership, dedication, and commitment. I am reminded of the worker in the field that starts off planting seeds in preparation for the harvest. The Youth Leader is continuously working to make sure the seeds are rooted, grounded, watered, and properly nurtured on a strong foundation. Within the working period, sometimes Youth Leaders become overworked, stressed, disappointed, or discouraged through the laboring process of the field because they are working with their own hands and without God’s assistance. But for those Youth Leaders that continue to stand firm and tend to the field that God has entrusted to them the laboring process is easier through the sustaining power of God’s hands.

As a Youth Leader, I can attest that once the planted seeds of the Youth grow into the blooming flowers that they are predestined to become the harvest experience is priceless. When it is time to experience the harvest, there is no better feeling to know the lasting impact that you had on an individual’s life. The seeds have produced a harvest of love, peace, happiness, long suffering, patience, and faith. There is no greater sense of fulfillment that is felt by a Youth Pastor or Youth Leader during the season of the harvest.

The scripture tells us in Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.” If you have been called to be a Youth Pastor/Youth Leader, hold this calling dear to your heart. With the task of leadership the responsibility is great but, there is nothing too hard or impossible with God. As a leader, you may experience some dark days where you feel a lack of support, resources, commitment for those that are you are working in the field, but take an inventory of the reason behind your calling and know that God has called you to plant seeds for his kingdom and for his glory.
