Funny how the conservative political pundits who blasted Pastor Jeremiah Wright for his stance on speaking out about what will happen if America continues to ignore God and His ways are now yelling the loudest against the gay marriage fiasco. Do not misunderstand, I am not in favor of altering God’s definition of marriage. But what I see is how people can be so fickle about things. It seems today the measure and relevance of truth is based on who truth comes from. For example, if a church in an urban area speaks about breaking the shackles of racism, poverty, or crime, it is tagged as liberation theology and easily dismissed as the ranting of angry people. But if a suburban church talks about the same issues, it is considered good evangelical theology. In Exodus 14:25, even Pharaoh’s army spoke truth when they uttered they were no match for the God of Israel. No matter how you slice it, truth is truth.

Here is why I put it that way. Paul wrote, “But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” - 1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB) In other words, the result of truth should be an untainted heart, a good moral compass, and a certified faith. Unfortunately, America has pushed God and His word out. As a result, truth is no longer relevant. Our hearts have become hardened towards God. Because moral absolutes have been eliminated, we are directionless. We are like trying to shoot in the dark with blanks never having any idea what the target looks like. The faith of our nation is not even up to mustard seed standard. Mountains are no longer afraid to stand in place against us. We have become a nation of sin and we are headed for the abyss. The wisest man who ever lived predicted it. “He who sows iniquity will reap vanity, and the rod of his fury will perish.” - Proverbs 22:8.

America’s downward spiral can be averted, if, and only if, we follow the right prescription. The Doctor ordered it in Ephesians 6:10 - 18. We first need to realize that alone we are weaklings, but with God we are strong (10). Next we need to be cognizant who is behind or demise (11-12). Then we need to use God’s strength to enable us to have a solid and unyielding foundation, not being tossed here and there my deceit and trickery (13-17). And finally, the triggering mechanism is prayer, so that we do not faint.

Folks the medicine for what ills America is on the table in front of us. We have two choices. We can scream like a little child refusing to taste and swallow the spoonful of castor oil, thus remaining sick or even hastening our death. Or we can take the medicine, knowing that soon, things will be back to their normal order and the body that is American will function properly and be prosperous.
