Look not on my sin, neither my charge.
Look not within; my heart is so hard.
Look on my need, my void of You.
Grant me Your lead, for You are true.

Take this jar, fill with the Oil.
Like any star, raise 'bove the soil.
Be within me, only what's good.
Hear this plea. Be my sole Food.

You know I've drifted. Now I am cold.
Your judgments sifted. Now I am old.
Yet I know You to meet me for need.
Take false for true. Soil for the seed.

Return to me the joy of Your Spirit.
To know Your word, that I may hear it.
Make me more wise than all of my fathers.
Refresh this cup for all my brothers.

You are so near, ever my Hope.
All for the fear, for You I grope.
Be the One God in these hands.
All for my ears, Your good commands.

Be the One praise from my vain mouth.
Only Your Gospel I must shout.
As they see me, may they see us.
Father in me, shining Your Jesus.

I will expect my spirit is sated.
Your Spirit and mine are ever mated.
If this is all, this is my lot.
Eternal riches are all that I've got.

I will not thank You with this dirge.
Gratitude is greater than profane words.
I'll be Your praise as You're my Life.
There I am raised, even from strife.
