It was a fateful night
When the hour had come.
The prophecy to be made true
The purpose of life to be fulfilled.

It was a forsaken garden
When the hour had come.
The agony to be withstood
The rejection, pain and humiliation.

It was a solemn upper room
When the hour had come.
The lesson on service, the final supper
The first mass and inevitable birth of the Church.

It was a distressing moment
When the hour had come.
To be betrayed by your very own
And denied by those held dear.

It was a prophetic night
When the hour had finally come.
To embrace the Cross and walk the path
Yielding His Spirit to save all those held precious in sight.
