“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10

Rubies are extremely precious to the Hebrew people, because God used them to characterize the women. A ruby is considered one of the four “precious stones”, along with the sapphire, emerald, and diamond. The price of a ruby is determined largely by the color. The brighter the gem is the more valuable it becomes. Clarity and weight also play a role in it’s worth. There are only two gems harder than a ruby, the moissanite and diamond.

So, what is the Lord saying to us about women who are “virtuous”? Like a ruby, this type of woman has few things she can be compared to. Her qualities are rare. Her value can be determined by her “brightness”, how she shines. She is clear in her thinking and direct with her actions. Her “weight”, or presence, is felt in the home and in the community.

A Christian woman strives to please God in all things, and this causes her to become virtuous. Sanctified women are powerful, prosperous, and praiseworthy. Their understanding is enlightened by the Spirit of God in all matters.

To a virtuous woman marriage is not about lust or sex, nor does she marry out of fear, convenience, or desperation. She has a strong desire to do her best in building up the Kingdom of God in her church, and in her home.
She understands that being trustworthy is of great worth. Honesty and integrity is a sail that carries her across any obstacle to meet success on the other side.

She refuses to let her children suffer from ignorance to God’s Word. Depending on the Sunday school teacher to educate them is not an option. The woman of God will constantly keep her children before the Lord in prayer and study. They love and respect her for her stand in righteousness.

Her husband adores her and calls her blessed. He is admired among the congregation because she brings honor to him.

In the church she is sought after to inspire the people. Dependable and willing, she is a great asset to the Body of Christ, and strengthens the work of faith.

Her adversaries fear her, knowing her discernment is keen. She will not accept defeat, she will rise to the challenge, and she will overcome evil with good.

A virtuous woman can be found in you, if you will be found in the Word of God.
