Double Key (Mark 11 :24-25)
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
This message is a gift from Jesus to you ! It contains the two keys we need to see breakthrough in our prayers. It opens the door to the miraculous manifestation of the Spirit in and through our lives. You may have been praying persistently about something, and feeling like there is a closed door before you. Receive the keys you need to unlock that door !
The keys Jesus gave His disciples in this passage of Scripture are faith and forgiveness.
Jesus said :"Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it". Hebrews 11 :1 describes faith as ‘being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see.’ In the world we expect to see before we believe, but when it comes to the things of the Kingdom, we have to believe before we see it manifested. Ephesians 1 :3 says : “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”. 2 Peter 1 :3 says :"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness". In the spiritual dimension, we have already been given everything we could need to be fruitful and joyful and walk in the blessing of God. We do not have to ask to be blessed, because it is already ours. More than any earthly father, our Daddy God loves His kids and wants to fill their lives with every good thing. This is why David wrote in Psalm 23 that goodness and mercy would follow him all the days of his life. He knew His God ! He knew His Father had good plans for him. When Jesus gave up His Spirit upon the cross, He said "It is finished". He did all there was to be done. He opened the way for us to know salvation, healing, deliverance, resurrection power, and prosperity in every aspect of our lives. This is true ‘shalom’ which means, not only ‘peace’, but ‘nothing missing, nothing broken’. He came to give us abundant life. (John 10 :10).
So how do we believe the way Jesus is asking us to? By living Hebrewes 11 :1, and being certain that the Word of God is true. Although you may have not as yet seen the results of your prayer, if you are praying for something which lines up with the Word of God, begin to appropriate it in faith because it has already been given to you. It is yours. I heard of a young woman who was praying for a child, and some years went by without the manifestation of the blessing. However, as she realized that she was praying for something which was legitimately hers to have, she began to make herself ready for a child, by educating herself. She also began to acquire the things she would need for her baby, (clothing, bedding, bottles etc). She acted as though her prayer had already been answered. She also gave thanks to God daily for hearing her prayer and for making her a happy mother of children (Psalm 113 :9). It was not long before she was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, the first in a family of 3 ! The Father wants His kids to believe His Word is true, and know that they are blessed already, not because of anything they could do, but because of His grace and His love !
Faith is essential, and nothing happens in the Kingdom apart from faith. We know from Hebrews 11 :6 that without faith, it is impossible to please God. However, from the words of Jesus, we see that even mighty faith cannot bring us the breakthrough we seek if we are hindered by carrying unforgiveness in our hearts. Some of us may be seeking answers through fasting and spiritual warfare, when we first need to allow the Holy Spirit to show us if we are bearing a grudge, or some bitterness against someone who offended or hurt us in the past. Jesus said to His disciples "If you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven can forgive you". There are no exceptions here, and we cannot overlook anything. Jesus was telling His disciples that if they wanted to see victory in prayer, they needed to let go of any grievance, however small. (It is often the little foxes that spoil the vine - Song of Songs 2 :15). We cannot expect to experience the forgiveness of God but carry unforgiveness against another. This would be a big stumbling block in our intercession, and a barrier between us and God.
Friend, there are two things you can do today, as you receive the two keys to answered prayer.
1)Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and help you to see if there are any bitter roots from days past. You may need to make a list of the names He brings to your heart. Ask Him to help you to forgive them as Jesus has forgiven you. Release forgiveness over each name on the list, in the power of the name of Jesus.
2)Ask the Holy Spirit to deposit in you the ‘Jesus’ kind of faith you need to stand on the Word and believe. He will give you new faith and a new resolve to see the miracle happen as your prayers are answered powerfully !
As you work in partnership with the blessed Holy Spirit, you will see Him take over, and pray through you, to bring the answers to prayer you have been longing for. He is your Helper and your Guide. « In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. » (Romans 8 :26).
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Amen" (Ephesians 3 :20)
May you rise to a new level of faith and power, and may you see miraculous answers to prayer in these days to come. May He grant you the desires of your heart, as you delights in Him ( Psalm 37 :4). I am praying for you
