Here is a crazy idea: Submitting to the will of the Father.

Meanwhile above I have quoted some verses that have some things to say about the Father's will. In His will He does send down sun or rain, and while some are quick to call those blessings some are not so happy. Rain can mean an abundant harvest for a farmer and a ruined day for a golfer. Sun may mean a great time on the water for a surfer or it can mean a harsh sunburn for those so sensitive to the daylight.

What makes the difference? Perspective, a thing of the will. When one brings up the will they are talking about a moral issue.

I used to get bugged with God when there was a cloudy day. There are a lot of times I got mad at God for the rains He allowed (I speak metaphorically). I was like that man Jesus talked about.

You see, in my unjust state of mind I unfairly judged God as not being good. The hilarious thing about that is that the only one having a bad day was myself because of my unjust and angry thoughts.

In my short-sighted perspective I was unjust with the Lord. I chose that. I could have helped that by submitting to the Lord's will revealed in His word. How many good days I missed because of that. All I had to do was say, “Your will be done on earth right inside this 18 inch circle that I occupy, moreso in the will of my mind and heart.”

Here is one thing I can never overcome: the Lord will have His way.

What I can overcome is my own bullheadedness and submit. Where can it lead to but resolution that find its way to peace with the Lord. I might even find myself grateful for the rain and the sun, though I had not planned for those things.

Then there have been times that it seemed like thousands were falling around me-a terrifying experience that was mostly in my mind overwhelming me. How many times I freaked over something that turned out to not be so bad. I had been through some horrendous things, too.

Even if they were as bad as they seemed, I only “saw” them. They never got in my face. I heard them but they were the toothless pratings of Satan. Jesus de-fanged Him. He only has sway over a deceived world that does not believe he exists.

But I sure can think of some worrisome things! Not just worry...catastrophize! The same mind that helps me to conjure up some creative, even lovely things also gives me nightmares.

Again, the solution is the same as before: submissively believe in the Lord. If anything, I am learning I cannot trust me while I can trust Him.

When I do trust Him I find that His will is the filter for my life. Even when He sends the rains and the sunshine it is only by His will, all meant to show me the good He works out in my life. I then begin to see that with His love and my trust He is making me more like His Son, that same Guy that endured rain and sun here on Earth like the rest of us. The tragic thing is that Jesus did not just see the evil thousands. They actually nailed Him to a cross.

I will say this one last thing, and be silent:

Being our sympathetic High Priest He also was subject to the filter of the Father's will.
