Psalm 119.79

New friends

“May those who fear You turn to me, even those that know Your testimonies” [Psalm 119.79 NASB]

David had mentioned those that feared God in [Psalm 119.74]. As we continue to go on in the Christian life, we often find that previous friends and acquaintances stop seeing so much of us and new friends take their place. It is here that we need to be wise and careful. Sometimes God will take away as well as add people to our lives. Holding onto what He wants to remove can be very harmful for us...

Very often our life's journey is slightly similar to Paul's second missionary journey; at a lonely and low time we meet a new friend as, for example, Paul met Timothy at a crucial time.

Everybody - at one time or another - knows what it feels like to be isolated and alone. This is especially true when, like the prophets of the Old Testament, we are carrying the burden of the word of the Lord. However, as we continue to stand for God and refuse to compromise, on any point whatsoever, we will find that God will bring into our lives those that fear Him and those who through constant usage are familiar with His testimonies.

Whatever or whoever God takes away, He replaces with something/someone better. However, there is usually a transition period in which we learn to trust Him more and to realize that He knows what is really best for us. [David McArdle]
