Psalm 119.69

How to silence the arrogant

"The arrogant have forged a lie against me; with all my heart I will observe Your precepts" [Psalm 119.69 NASB]

Over and over again the wicked who have given themselves over to do evil, attack all those who are consistently righteous. The picture portrayed here is as though they are continually making wrong observations, accusations and misrepresentations against God's man. Have you ever been accused of blasphemy and of doing Satan's work? Jesus was.

If we have made up our mind to stand with Him come what may, then the same defeated, disgraced and disarmed enemy will also come against us. What functioning weapons does he have left in his once formidable array? One! His mouth [Rev 12.14-16]. Just as he attempted to drown the church in the Revelation, so here he tried to overcome and destroy David's character by an abundance of false accusations.

Jesus assured us that whatever Satan says is lies. His main tactic is to brainwash you by repeating the same false statements with increasing intensity. As you will have noticed by now some well-intentioned people repeat his words with different accents but it is the same underlying message.

How do we handle this barrage of blasphemy? David, as a man of much experience in spiritual warfare has given us a two-edged weapon to wield day and night; with all your heart continually observe God's precepts.

How do we do this? We set a guard over our heart and we protect it from all possible intruders. [David McArdle]
