Christmas Contemplations

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among
us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (KJV)

With lights and bells and Christmas mirth,
We celebrate the Savior’s birth.
There’s red and green and silver bright.
Enough to make the nighttime light.

But where’s the one for which they’re there,
Announced by angel in the air?
He’s buried beneath the shopping list.
Somehow His purpose has been missed.

His name is often now left out.
Now, “Seasons Greetings” people shout.
The purpose for this day is lost.
Replaced with things and what they cost.

Do not forget this is Christ’s day.
Don’t let the world take Him away.
Remember why God sent His Son,
That to His love men’s hearts are won.
