Why is it when we are out winning the lost back to Jesus it is the apparent Christians that give us the most trouble. I recently was out and came across an older lady that told me she had been a Christian for 17 years.... (apparently). After speaking to her for a little while and realising she really didn’t have much knowledge of the Word, and only basically knew things of what she had heard preached by others, she told me she was sick. My first instinct was obviously to offer her prayer, we were sitting out by a busy road when I gave her the invitation to allow me to pray for her to be healed, she looked at me, and then at the cars and back at me again, then she said “everyone will see us”. Of course after having listened to a bit of abuse from her prior to this, I said rather boldly “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, are you?” The attitude this woman displayed towards Jesus grieved me, as it did the Holy Ghost. A woman who claims to have known Jesus for 17 years, not wanting anyone to know? What does the Word say about how our behaviour should be?

Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

The Word also teaches us that we are to be set apart, we are to be the light of the World and we are also to be the salt. If you eat a heap of salt you are going to know it is there. That is how God has told us to be. I ask you this. Are you ashamed of the Gospel of Christ?
