1Tim 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1Tim 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

I like it when an elder prepares a little one for his coming. He knows that in his absence, so many things can overtake the younger one, being a young person (in the faith), both spiritual and earthly guidances are gifts from God.

In the passage above, Paul was encouraging Timothy to standby. Letting no other men distract the course he had been set to take. Paul clearly knows that Timothy is destined to serve God, in preaching the Gospel of Christ.

Note, Paul gives the young man advice, NOT law. He encourages, NOT force. I like the fact that he adds the word DOCTRINE. A glance at the bible can imply a contradictory PAUL. But its not so. He asserts the Gospel the more.

In Romans, he talks about the gift of faith. The fact that it comes with a 'new' testament. This law, he says, does not 'judge' by works (only), nor by faith (only, James). Rather, he says it looks for the believing one, who does 'whatever' keeps his/her mind closer to the knowledge of the Christ!

Thus he encourages Timothy to be an example of the believers, in word(when he talks about the word) , in conversation(even when he talks to others), in charity(how he extends his ends in giving), in spirit(how he dedicates time for spiritual growth, alone), in faith(in 'testing' God by believing what has not been seen yet), in purity(having no blame of any sort from man). Do not try to live this life.

Rather, right now, go down on your knees and pray to God for Jesus to come in your life. Now Till he comes(you shall know when he does, and be patient,), give attendance to reading( The bible, gospel books, gospel movies, listening to gospel music), to exhortation(encourage firstly yourself to do what you intend to do, then also teh others near you, do this till they say 'get away!'), to doctrine(if there is any way of living that other man of God have used and worked for them, like tithes, charity, going to church, wearing certain clothes) do that!
