Grandma Pat had a great doubt. Whenever she reads the words of God, her thoughts will automatically think of God’s words in Psalm12. “The promises of the Lord are sure and lasting- silver refined in the furnace seven times and freed from dross.” (Psalm 12:7)

How is silver purified? How can it be applicable to human life? The more Pat grandma was meditating on it, the more perturbed was her mind. At last she decided to try it herself. Yes, she decided to refine silver and find out the truth!

Pat grandma called a silversmith in the nearby village and made an appointment to watch him work. But she did not tell him any reason for her visit. He thought perhaps the old lady might be a stubborn lady who wants to confirm in person about purification of some silver she may have!

He accepted her request and was waiting for her.

“I am just curious to watch the process while silver is purified,” the old lady told him the purpose of her visit.

The furnace was kindled and the purifying work was stared. Grandma Pat was watching eagerly while he was holding a piece of silver over the fire and was heating it up. The silversmith explained the curious lady how he refined it holding it in the middle of fire, where the flames were the hottest. The red glowing fire and the shining silver! She could not move her eyes away.

She asked the silversmith, “Is it true that you have to sit all the time in front of this fire bearing all this heat, until this silver piece is purified?”

“Yes. Madam, not only sitting here holding the silver bearing all this heat, but also I have to keep my eyes on this silver piece the whole time it is on fire until it is completely purified. If it is left unnoticed just a moment, holding it for more time or less time, the whole thing will be spoiled”

The old lady was silent for sometime. Then she asked him, “How do you know when the silver is purified completely?”

There was a smile on the face of the silversmith who was already perspiring profusely.

“It is easy madam; it becomes fully purified when I can see my image reflected on it!”

My God!
Is this the way? Is this the method God has adapted to purify us all? How can He be holding us in such a hot spot? Oh God! You are really great! You are really patient and loving! How much You bear on behalf of us! How long You wait for us so patiently!

Do you still feel the heat of fire all around you? Just remember that God has His eyes on you! He will keep watching you till He sees His image in you!
