Encouragement
After today’s service, Sydney and I were driving home, and I felt a great sense of guilt. I grabbed her hand, and asked her to forgive me. She looked at me, and through a little crooked grin said, ‘Okay.’
That response did not sit well with me. I’d not even had a chance to explain what I was apologizing for!! Didn’t she want to know? Wasn’t she curious? Was she really going to leave it as it was, and go on about her day?
After sitting in silence for all of three minutes, I expressed to her the reasoning behind my apology. You see, there have been times (I’m quite certain), that I’ve not been the most supportive, thoughtful, or articulate parent when it comes to correcting or disciplining my children. And then, I screamed, 'I take it back, in the Name of Jesus!!!'
I certainly do not want to label my children as anything other than what the LORD has stated they are… Precious in HIS eyes!! I want my children to be confident in HIM! To strive for HIS will in their lives! To seek and see the needs of others, and to fill those needs, as the Lord would direct them! I want them to know that they can come to me, regardless of severity of situation, and that I will be understanding, comforting, and prayerful on their behalf!
I want to encourage you… Humble yourselves. Humble yourselves to your children. Give them that heartfelt apology that you’re longing to give them. It’s okay for them to know that you’ve made a mistake. It’s okay for them to see your humility in coming to them. It’s okay for them to see you cry. Do it for them… as you would do it unto the LORD!! And then praise HIM!! Praise HIM, that He has taken something intended to harm your children… and turned it into something that has allowed them to see HIS GLORY!! AMEN!

Such a great point. It's a humbling thing to apologize to your children, but it shows your, and Christ's, love. Thanks for sharing.
