America was founded by men and women who were Christians – they fled Europe to be able to worship in freedom. They sailed from the Old World to take a chance on liberty in a new land. John Adams and John Hancock said, “We recognize no Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus!” [April 18, 1775] Ben Franklin said, “God governs in the affairs of man.” –Constitutional Convention of 1787 [original manuscript of this speech] “In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered… do we imagine we no longer need His assistance?” [Constitutional Convention, Thursday June 28, 1787] Thomas Jefferson said, “I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? [1837, at the age of 69, a Fourth of July speech at Newburyport, Massachusetts.] Alexander Hamilton said, “I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man."

In less than 200 years, this nation that these men setup, went from being an insignificant people scattered in a big land to the greatest nation on earth. They lead the world in industry, science, technology, morals, law, art and culture. That’s not to say the USA was perfect, it made mistakes, but compared to other nations, it was pretty good. It all started when science accepted the idea of evolution. Then, after WWII a different spirit swept across the land. Science exploded, the sexual and drug revolution of the 1060’s hit and society changed. Music changed, education was freely available and we went to the moon. Slowly, among American leaders of culture, society, science and intellect, it became fashionable to reject Christianity, God and certainly Jesus. If the universe made itself, there was no need of God. The foundation of our nation that had stood solidly for hundreds of years, built on God and the Bible, was slowly “improved for the times.” Bit by bit one strong point after another was “modified.” In every area of society, leaders voiced the idea that the Bible was just a book, and out of date. A need breed of intellectuals and thought leaders arose, who knew not or cared not for God. Scientists had evolution – they didn’t need the Creator. Television, computers and easy divorce changed peoples thinking - God seemed old fashioned.

Since secularists had rejected the Bible, they had to create their own code of morality. Their new ethics actively supported single parent families, homosexuality, abortions, pornography and no corporal punishment – basically, total self and sexual freedom with little responsibility. In our generation, we have secularists who are so passionate to do the right thing, to be politically correct, that people cannot be honest or deal with reality. We have become so politically correct that we then negate our freedom of speech. We have reached the place where the media will not touch certain subjects dealing with creationism vs. evolution, the relationship of Islamic terrorism to the whole of the Moslem world or Christmas. The media doesn’t want to offend the Moslems or the atheists, but they feel free to trash any and all Christians. Any values and belief systems besides their own is “intolerance” or “bigotry.” No, actually, only Christianity was “intolerant” and “bigoted.” Hindu, Moslem, Buddhists, Chinese traditionalists or non-religious were OK, just not any belief involving the Bible. I see on Face Book that people in Canada are suing to legalize polygamy. Once you throw out the Bible, there is no limit to how far down a society will go.

Our biggest problem isn’t that we have moved away from the Constitution - our biggest problem is that we have moved away from God and the Bible. The Federal Reserve System and chronic careless spending has almost bankrupted us financially, but rejecting God has bankrupted us spiritually and morally. Like the great cities of antiquity, we are now heading down a lawless path toward mediocrity and destruction. Thebes, Nineveh, Tyre, Babylon, Memphis, Athens, Syracuse, Alexandria, Rome, Carthage, and Constantinople all had loose morals like the USA is now adopting. Sadly, America now needs “missionaries” to come convert us back to Bible Christianity! In a few short decades, the House on the Rock has been inched over onto the sand. It is a tragic and dangerous place to be.
