Larry Lilly's Letter Wednesday November 3, 2010

The Little Woman is always on me for being a type 4 A personality. I do not disagree with her, but the fact is I am a laid back C level guy who simply understands that at my age which goes up every year, I must get with it if I am going to realize any of the many dreams and aspirations of my youth. At the current rate of reaching up and pulling my dream castles out of the air, I need only three more life times. I do not have that many and soon I will have run the normal course for this race we call life.

Therefore I act on several Bible principles and work for the night, at least for me, is not only coming but I can hear the roar. Arthur Brisbane put it like this:

"Among the aimless you often hear talk about "Killing Time." People who are constantly killing time are really killing their own chances in life. Those who are destined to become successful are those who make time and use it wisely."

Brisbane began his career as a socialist but working with William Randolph Hearst soon made a profit liking conservative of him. He was noted as the best journalist/genius of all time and a tireless worker. He realized many of his dreams during his life time. He fully understood the truth of his statement, our quote for today and acted accordingly.

I, too, believe as Franklin said, "Do not waste time, for it is the stuff of life." The Blonde has been telling me to quit being so hard on people who just fool around wasting time, but I respond, to my pain, that I don't care how much time people waste as long as they do not expect me to join them. And no, to all you romantics, I do NOT think moonlight and roses are a waste of time. Joyce and I did that once in Niagara Falls.

It is important to note that just because you are busy does not mean you are not wasting time, for the time you are investing may be pouring your life down a rat hole. Those who value time know the importance of asking, "Is what I am doing worth the time, does it have any eternal value?"

Paul the Apostle wrote in Ephesians 5:16:

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

It is pretty certain he meant to "buy time by using it wisely." Brisbane meant the same when talked about "making time."

Jesus put is like this in John 9:4:

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
