One Drop Of Blood

I dreamed I went to heaven and as I entered the gate
St. Michael came to meet me and he handed me a slate.
He said, "St. Peter's off duty and Jesus awaits."

As I looked at the slate it was clean as could be,
But a small drop of blood on the side I did see.
As I looked up at Michael, he smiled back at me.

"The blood of the Lamb has wiped your slate clean.
The drop on the side...That's for the Father to see."

Then on my shoulder a hand soft, but firm
And a voice in my ear, "That one's just for you."
I knew it was Jesus as I gazed at His face
And I realized what one drop of blood had done.

Then I thought of the millions with a slate just like mine
And how many single drops of blood that were all so divine.
And I thought of how He bled
All the blood that was shed;
And I trembled and fell on my knees.

With scarred hands He picked me up and said,
"All was good and pure."
He knew my life, my sin, and all that I had done.
But He looked into my heart and knew....
One single drop of blood would be enough
To see me through.
