Nothing…not even darkness
And in the midst of endless nothing…the Eternal Everything
Then an explosion of light…dazzling and awesome
In instantaneous obedience to a single utterance
From nothing…something…the first thing
Not just anything…but the most wondrous thing…Light

The first holy manifestation
Born from the first holy words
Illuminating and brightening all it touches
Reflecting perfectly the character and essence of the Creator

It permeated everything…it went everywhere
When man first opened his eyes…it was there
When his hungry imagination flew him to the stars …it guided him
Every planet and star called out to us, “I am here!”
And the language they used was…Light

Light…all born in its glow…all subject to its authority
Nothing can be hidden where it shines
All is revealed in its presence
Perfect and amazing…the first holy creation
Beneath its flame the first creatures danced
In the warmth of its rays the first flowers bloomed

And I also rejoice with creation
For like that first holy moment
God spoke into my darkness
And created a universe of possibilities
Out of the black nothingness of my heart
Looking tenderly across the abyss that separated us
He spoke a bridge of light into being
And he called it Jesus

Let there be light!

And there was and it is good!
