Prophecy
This post was originally an email that I sent to a friend almost a year ago today... for some reason I feel the need to post it here... Hope you enjoy it!!
I had a dream the other night (Monday night) about a revival that is to take place in Bixby. I had been thinking, for some time now, of how important it is to support, not just live in, the community in which you reside. Not sure why I'd been thinking about this, and I can't even explain the feeling I get from contemplating the joy it would bring to see a community-wide revival happen in this town. Maybe, it's the fact that I have kids, and the deep desire I have to see them live their lives for Jesus.
I had been up late Monday night, not really doing anything 'spiritual' or even thinking about things of a spiritual nature... actually, I was trying to post pics on my blog, as I thought I had a fabulous idea, and needed to insert these pics to tell a story. I had not been praying or communicating with the Lord during this time, so when I went to bed, I was quite surprised to find that sleep was not going to be an easy thing.
My heart began to pound so hard I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest... this is usually what happens to me when the Lord is about to impress upon me things he has planned for His people.
In this dream, or vision, I was contacting all of the churches in Bixby... and by all, I mean ALL. All denominations, all people, from all walks of life. I was encouraging them to become a part of what could, and would be the biggest and best thing to happen in Bixby. I was writing letters and sending them, hoping that I would hear from all who were contacted. I was putting together a huge 'event' that would involve everyone from the homeless man holding the sign that reads, 'Will work for food', to the mayor of the city. This was an event that would incorporate all people from all backgrounds, of all faiths... We were to come together as ONE body, lift the name of Jesus higher than it has been lifted in the past, and bring God's children to Him... leaving everyone with a sense of community, purpose, and a fire that burns brighter and hotter than anything they had ever felt in the past.
We (the members of the local churches) were encouraged to leave behind any bias and stereotypical denominational beliefs... leave behind any and all prejudice we may have hidden in our hearts, and find common ground in Jesus.
As the dream progressed, I had received confirmation from ALL churches... I could hardly believe it (ALL of them), and the plans for such a grand 'event' were in full swing. The only problem was... where would one hold a revival with such a great number of people. It seemed like it took forever to nail down a venue, and then I realized that we had to take the revival to the heart of the city. In Bixby, that would be the football stadium at Bixby High School... not saying that's good or bad, it just is. In my mind's eye, it seemed large enough to contain the thousands of people who would be attending.
We had prepared speakers for the weeklong event. We had contacted a local worship team. We had rented lighting, prepared booklets and programs, and we had purchased, or had donated, many, many Bibles to be given to anyone in need of one. Then, the first night was upon us...
For some reason, I was the first speaker (no, I'm not wanting to speak to many people... that's just how the dream went). I was on the platform waiting for the community to file into the stadium. I look around and there is but one lonely soul in the place... Picture this... worship team ready to lead us in worship, I'm standing there getting ready to present what I believe is a life changing message, and there is ONE person in the whole place. No other people could be seen.
(At this point in the dream, I'm on the stage, but I feel like I'm hovering over it... able to see everything.)
The music is playing softly, and I consider leaving, because the stadium has but one person in attendance... seemed like a waste to me. Then I have a severe check in my spirit, and begin sharing my prepared message... as if there was a stadium full of attendants... but centering my concentration to the one. (The message was fabulous, by the way).
When I had concluded what I had to say, I noticed that this person was in tears. I never left the stage, but encouraged him to come to know Jesus the way I know him. He accepted the Lord into his life, and the worship team began playing at a level I had not heard previously. It was a great booming, powerful rendition of 'Mighty to Save'; and as the band played, and the few people (that being myself, the one man,and the worship team) in attendance began to worship the Lord with EVERYTHING they have... from the depths of their souls... from a place they didn't even know existed...
I looked around and people from the community were entering the stadium with such urgency and purpose. It was as though the farmer had lifted the gate and all of the cattle had realized they were free to roam... and they were roaming at an alarming speed. Before I knew it, the football stadium was full of people... It couldn't even contain the vast number of people who wanted to be in the presence of the Lord... It was like they knew that that was the place to be. That was where they could physically feel the thickness of the presence of God on their shoulders. Still on the stage, but also hovering above with a bird's eye view, I could see the people in the parking lot of the stadium... I could see them lining the streets... I could see them moving out of who they were into who the Lord intended them to be...
And in that moment, I realized that Bixby so desperately needs a revival!! There are people who are living life between who they are and who their meant to be. They are NOT satisfied with living for the moment, going from one mediocre, mundane life experience to the next. I feel strongly that these people are ready for a great move of God... and I see it coming...
