"For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." - Matthew 12:34b

"So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us." - 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Real men really are.

One thing that will always be true: who we are. That is the truth of the quote from Matthew's gospel. While Jesus declared this to evil men it is true of any person. Just as liars speak from their heart's abundance, being abundantly full of lies, so is it true of any person. Maybe we remember this in our B.C (Before Christ) days. All people speak heart-felt words all the time.

It is a question of what fills the heart.

Then imagine encountering Jesus as one's Savior and Lord, only to learn Him as the one mighty Truth. Let's say one is obedient to a fault, starving oneself of sin while engrossing self on the teachings of the Gospel. Will one's heart be any less abundant? Will it not be a heart of abundant life, full of abundant truth?

In responding to that abundance of Christ's love, in love they feed voraciously on His Word and drink His Spirit. In time one may learn there is nothing to hide, especially if that life is an obedient and submissive one. It is then apparent that the end result of this matured believer is to be one of a genuine and giving heart, who not only shares the Truth of Christ, but also their own life. Just as Jesus wore His heart on His sleeve, so do His own.

Real men really are.
