Bless
(1.) God blesses his people when he bestows on them some gift temporal or spiritual (Gen. 1:22; 24:35; Job 42:12; Ps. 45:2; 104:24, 35).
(2.) We bless God when we thank him for his mercies (Ps. 103:1, 2; 145:1, 2).
(3.) A man blesses himself when he invokes God's blessing (Isa. 65:16), or rejoices in God's goodness to him (Deut. 29:19; Ps. 49:18).

As I sit and think about my blessings, I am overwhelmed at the thought of how much God has given me. Today is my Birthday! I have some quiet time to spend with Lord and reflect on all he has blessed me with. I have my incredible husband, 2 wonderful kids and an awesome family and church family. We have good jobs, positions that God has given us, not man. I think of all He has done for us over the years. All the ways He has provided for us when we just saw no way of meeting our needs. He has always come through. For an example, as of right now, our water line is busted. We have had no water for two days. Our money has gone to pay our bills. No money to fix it. My job and my husband’s job, are not very stable at this point. Our phones could be cut off tomorrow. Our home is behind a payment, and I have been very sick. The doctor wants $600 up front for a test. Most of my family is going on a family vacation and I have no money to join them. My son’s car is broke down and because he is in school, my husband feels the responsibility to help him and we can’t. My daughter’s hours have been cut at work, putting her in the position of needing help too. That again feels like our responsibility, as she is not yet married.

You thought this was about blessings, didn’t you? It is! Here are the blessings for each you have read about. God has blessed my son and in return, with that blessing, he is going to pay to get the material to fix our water line, and my wonderful husband has the wisdom to do it. What a Blessing! Our son is also paying our phone bill, so we don’t loose that communication, because we are a close family. What a Blessing! The bank called about our home and in a call looking for a payment, was able to give us an extension, to help us get caught up. What a Blessing! As for my test, my body is healing. It looks like I may not even need the test. What a Blessing! My family is paying my way on our short vacation, because I have the kind of family who won’t leave anyone out, with or without money. What a Blessing! My son’s car will be fixed along with my husband’s labor and wisdom, even if not with money. My daughter has been able to pick up extra hours at work and I believe that will continue. What a Blessing! It is God who takes care of us, not anyone else. He uses people. He is the provider. As for our jobs, if He closes a door, he will open a window. It will be better and greater than ever before. With all this going on, we are still in the best positions of our life. God has given us more and taken us farther than we have ever dreamed. These were setbacks the enemy tried to slow us down. God has the last say.

To say all of this makes blessings sound material. They are! Blessings are also spiritual. My husband and I are closer to the Lord than we have ever been. What a Blessing! The presence of God, once entered into, has nothing to compare to in this world. What a Blessing! To know, that your family’s feet, are going land on the streets of gold. What a Blessing! To have a mighty, all powerful God, who is your Savior, yet your best friend. What a Blessing! To know, that you are not alone, even when they wheel you down a lonely corridor, laying on a cold hospital cot and no one can be with you. You have God. What a Blessing! Every need, like the ones above, will be met, because of an awesome, caring, loving Jesus. What a Blessing!

Life is made of struggles, God has made Life. God is stronger than anything life can throw at us. You see life is a blessing! Search out the blessings! Look into the face of your loved ones and take in the joy and the happiness that they experience. Soak up God, soak up family and soak up your wonderful life God has given you. See your cup as half full, not half empty. Those are some of the blessings that we can’t contain! See God for who He is and how he paid it all on the nail for us, to have the greatest blessing of all. Eternal life with Him! THAT MY FRIEND, IS THE TRUE BLESSING!
