Prophecy

Prophesy - it might be a topic that some people would called it a 'sensitive issue'. Some churches might forbid believers to prophesy in church to avoid controversy. Or they do not encourage people to prophecy and if you do, they will keep an eye on you.

What the Bible tells us about?

In 1 Cor 14:5 - it reads "..For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened."

In fact, Apostle Paul was trying to emphasis that, speaking in tongues is one of the Spiritual gifts you can ask for, prophesying is another type of Spiritual gift but it is not mainly for our personal use or personal good, but FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS - the Church will be strengthened.

Remember somewhere in the Bible, it suggests that, we look out for other people's interest and not our own. We can do almost everything but not everything is beneficial to us. We have a good conscience, that's nice. But how about in front of non-believers, we do need to care more about their consciences, not ours.

So it's not all about us, it's about edifying one another, building up the Church (which is people of God).
