Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we misunderstand realities
And float in our false pleasures,
Thinking that we have everything
And forget You, the Source of happiness.

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we dream too much
And build mansions in the air,
Boasting that our hands can build up
Babels towering even taller!

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we say at our good harvest,
“Rest, eat, drink and enjoy yourself”
Unmindful of the darkest night
That will snatch us away in a sudden moment!

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When are tempted to say,
“Yahweh gave me this land because
Of my own goodness
And others’ wickedness.

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we turn “rebellious and corrupt”
Abandoning the ways You taught,
“And make idols of our own”
For us to worship in secret!

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we lose our thirst for the ‘living water’
With the abundance of things that we possess;
When we fall in love with time,
And cease to dream of Eternity!

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we “eat and drink, buy and sell,
Plant and build” forgetting our end
And all the words of ‘Truth and Way’
For our journey towards “new heaven and earth”

Disturb us, Oh Lord,
When we “carry heavy burdens”
To think of Your ‘yoke’ to refresh and rest
And the words of promise to be with us
“Until the end of this world”
