When times are difficult, we need
to know that there is hope
and that things will get better.

Let me be mindful of
all the hope that’s
in front of me today.

Let my eyes,
and ears be open
to all the opportunities

I will see, and to
give and receive hope
Yes, hope is here, today!

We all need to hope. Especially if we are having a difficult time and don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is hard to feel hopeful when we are sad or feel overwhelmed. We can become so focused on our pain that hope seems impossible. Today, I ask you to open your eyes, ears and heart. There are some very simple, yet profound, ways to see hope.

It is always amazing to me how each twenty-four hour cycle goes from night to day, including the slow progression from sleep to wakefulness. I emphasize being awake! Each day provides new hope and new possibilities. Yesterday, we might have made mistakes, but today, we have a whole new day to start anew. We can try not to make the same mistakes. It is a new beginning! Can you see today from this perspective? When you wake up, slowly open your eyes and realize the gift you have been given—the gift of today! It is another chance to live. Another chance to show people we love them, just as we talked about, yesterday.

Have you noticed the hope a baby brings? New birth! A new, precious little life in our world, just waiting for love and care. Babies have a fresh beginning; a whole book of life to be lived! They remind us of hope.

There is also hope found in some literature and poetry. Perhaps there is a poem, prayer, or song that reminds you of hope. If you can’t think of one, do a little research today. and find something that touches your heart and gives you hope.

After you start your day with hopefulness, think about bringing hope to others. Speak an encouraging word, teach a skill, and help someone reach their potential, or perhaps provide someone in your family with a fresh word of hope. You’ll be glad you did!
