T is for Test
Galatians 6:4 NIV
Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else,

I’m very sorry for having to say the word “test”. But it really isn’t a bad word. All of our bible buddies like Moses, King David, Paul and the apostles had trials and test throughout their lives.

Tests are good. In school they help us to learn. If you are studying English then you will likely make the right choices on the test. It’s the same in your everyday life. Read and study the bible and you will make right choices in life. But the bible verse above says, “test yourself”. My first thought after reading it was, why? Who wants to test themselves? I don’t. I have enough tests in my life.

After I calmed down, I started thinking about the verse. “Each one should test his own actions.” This means test how I treat others. Test how well I obey my parents and teachers. Test how I talk about others. After testing myself in these areas, I realized I’m not as perfect as I thought I was. I need to do more of what the bible says to do.

The next part of the verse says, “Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else,” This reminded me of a time I picked up a piece of trash from the church parking lot and threw it away. No one saw me but I felt good on the inside of me. I passed the test. I’m sure I got at least a B on it.

The great thing about testing your own actions is the bible has the answers for you in case you get stuck. Read the rest of Galatians 6 and find a few answers before you test your own actions. You just may get an A+.
