Larry Lilly's Letter Thursday August 5, 2010
Andrew Carnegie, famous Scot/American of the last century whose life and fortune still benefit millions of people had a clear understanding of the power it takes to rise above the crowd in the world of business. He made a statement, part of which I am sharing here with you that by itself could change your life:
"IT" is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results."
Religious/motivation concepts attempt to identify "iT" in all sorts of ways, though Christian's should at some point grasp that God does NOT refer to Himself as "IT" but Him. At least one motivation teacher attempted to get his followers into discovering how to control their "Kundalini" or "Serpent Power" to reach a higher level.
The "IT" referred to by Carnegie was something quite different and his formula is one that was/is used by Jesus Christ, or correctly Christ's formula was used by Carnegie to great effect in his own success and that of those who were impacted by him. To give you a hint back in the heyday of the Green Bay Packers, Coach Lombardi told a very good athlete that he was going to trade him, although he knew the man could really play football. Lombardi's statement to the player essentially stated; "You are a good ball player, but you cannot play ball here."
While the man became an All Pro, Lombardi was right in his handling of the player. The player, while great, did not have "IT." Does this mean he did not have some Damascus road experience as did Paul? Nope, not at all.
Andrew Carnegie's complete statement on common people achieving uncommon results is key in understanding life: See if you can figure out just what "IT" is and why so many talented individuals and groups fail to reach their apparent potential.
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. "IT" is the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon results."
Paul touches on this in 1 Corinthians 1:26-28: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
The success of a group such as this depends to a large extent on "IT."
