'What
are
these
feeble Jews
doing?'
[Nehemiah 4:2]
_________________________
(Jo'ach is walking,
slowly, over to
his guardiee's house:
the person of whom he has
been assigned Guardian Angel.
Jo'ach can't fly, like
the other Guardian Angels.
And, he doesn't walk
very well, either.
The Devil appears; he stands
in his way.)
"Hey, YOU!"

(Jo'ach stops limping.)
(He stands still.)
(Woeful squint.)
"Huh?"

(Smirk!)
"YEAH!
YOU!
HA!"
(Smile!)
(Look up and down, at
little Jo'ach.)
"Aren't ya a little......
WEAK, to be GUARDING...
ANYBODY?"
(Big, chuckling laugh.)

(Little Jo'ach starts to sweat.
His kind, sensitive heart begins to
beat rather loudly in
his small, plump chest.
He tries to walk forward....but,
the Devil stands in his way.)
"Uh......."

(Laugh, even louder.)
"YOU!
YOU CAN'T EVEN WALK
STRAIGHT! YOU LITTLE
WEAKLING! HA! WHAT
ARE YOU DOIN'.....
GUARDIN' ANYBODY?"

"Uh......cuz....."
(Tries to limp, forward.)
(Tries, but can't: two other
demons show up. They're
both big, and strong. The Devil
grabs little Jo'ach's cane.)

(Laughing.)
"HUH? WHAT ARE YA
GONNA DO, NOW......?
YOU LITTLE TWIT!
YOU TWERP!
Why would anybody...
want YOU, AS THEIR
GUARDIAN ANGEL?
HA!"

(Jo'ach has to stop
himself, from falling.
He looks at his cane,
with a pounding heart.
Now what is he gonna DO?)
"Uh......uh,
cuz, I'm supposed to."

(Smirk!)
(Smacks little Jo'ach
on the ear, with his
candy-cane-shaped
cane.)
(Laughs.)
"YOU little..... TWIT!"
(Smacks Jo'ach, again,
on the other ear.)
(Laughs.)
"You ain't gonna GUARD
NOBODY.....
TODAY!
HA!"

(Heart pounding.)
(Sways a little, from
trying to stay upright,
on the hot sidewalk.)
"But......
but, I......"

"But, WHAT......?
You little LIMP!
WHAT?"

(Jo'ach stops feeling
really scared, for a moment.
He turns his head: looking
this way and that.)
"Eh........
well...."

"WELL, WHAT?
YOU LITTLE LIMP!
Go CRAWL UNDER A
SIDEWALK!"
(Laugh!)
"Where.....YA BELONG!"

(Both demons laugh along,
with the Devil. They're
both laughing so hard,
tears begin running down
their twisted, ugly faces.)

(Jo'ach bites his lower
lip. He squints, again;
his big glasses fall foward,
a little.)
"Uh.......well....
I, uh....
I got....."

(The Devil reaches out,
and grabs Jo'ach's big,
thick glasses. He drops
them, ceremoniously, onto
the hot sidewalk and
smashes them with his
powerful foot.)
"Ya got WHAT,
YOU STUPID!
YA GOT WHAT?"
(Laugh!)
(Devil turns around,
and laughs again,
smiling and shaking his
head at his two companions.)

(Jo'ach can't see anything,
now. But, he doesn't have
to. He has faith.)
"I got......."
(Jo'ach takes a deep breath;
he says a little prayer,
in his heart.)
"I got........."
(Pause.)
"....uh,
a.......uh,
a buddy."
(Turns his little head,
around, and looks up.)

(Both demons look up,
and stop laughing. The
Devil frowns; he doesn't
like when his slaves are
not following his suit. He
smirks, again.)
"A....BUDDY?"
(Laugh!)
(Taps Jo'ach, again:
this time on his little
head. Jo'ach's halo tips
over onto one sweating brow.)
"YEAH?
And........just......
WHO is THAT?"

(Jo'ach keeps looking
right behind him. He still
is swaying a bit, from his
bad limp. He is still squinting,
but he is smiling now.
With one little hand grasping
his clumsy, weak halo,
Jo'ach points a little chubby
finger, close to his plump
little face: upwards.)

(Michael, the Archangel.)
(Reaching down to wipe a tear
from Jo'ach's plump face.)
(Strong, tender voice.)
"Hey, little buddy."
***************************
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And
He shall strenthen
your heart;
Wait,
I say,
on the Lord!
[Psalms 27:14]
[A Psalm of David.]
