Scripture says “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you” Matt 7: 1-2 NKJV. The Bible continues this theme in Rom 2:1 NKJV “Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.” And Jesus said in Luke 6:37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”

With these blunt words of scripture, one would think Christians should be known as people who are meek and humble. Christ displayed so much compassion for the unfortunate and was very quick to help any in need. He showed such empathy with the sinners – it was the religious that hated Him. A few small groups of Christians may be known as humble, like the Amish or the Mennonites, but sadly, that is not the case for mainstream believers. Christians are great at talking, but how many have you seen in the ghettos helping those in need lately? We are quick to denounce and slow to assist. Unfortunately, Christians are more often considered to be judgmental, critical or narrow minded by any who disagree with them.

As Jesus said in Matt 25:40 NKJV “inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” So if believers are hasty to censure, they are censuring Jesus. If “Christians” are thin-skinned and criticize, they are criticizing Christ. If church members are swift to judge, they are judging the meek and gentle Jesus. Any hasty actions, any ill-advised words or any selfish fault-finding means we have been crucifying Christ. Jesus said it.

And we have only talked about being critical and judgmental. We haven’t gotten to forgiveness, enemies or mercy yet. There are thousands of ways to crucify the Master – and “Christians” have used them all. Believers have a lot to seek forgiveness for. Events look a lot different through God’s eyes than they look from an earthly perspective. Christians need to learn to “see” things through heaven’s eyes.
