It was the beginning of Lent. Pastor Paul wanted to paint the prayer hall. He was searching for a painter who can quote the least. Pet, the painter, approached the Pastor as usual. Both of them had a good understanding. Pastor was quite aware of what that painter will do.

The church decided to do some deferred maintenance. Pet was able to put in the low bid and get the job. As always, he thinned his paint way down with turpentine.

One day while he was up on the scaffolding the job almost finished he heard a horrendous clap of thunder, and the sky opened. It poured for sometime.

But the downpour washed the thinned paint off the church and knocked Pet off his scaffold. He knew this was a warning from the heavens, so he got on his knees and cried, “Oh, God! Forgive me! What should I do now?”

And from the thunder, again a mighty voice said: “REPAINT! REPAINT! AND THIN NO MORE!”
