The Declaration of Independence it is told
Was actually conceived in days of old

As the Godhead considered the options they faced
They decided their trust would be well placed.

They knew that one day sin would come on the scene
And pain and heartache would come into being.

Sin would be cruel and cause the universe great pain
When the blood of God’s children would run like rain.

The price was great that humans might be free
It would require God to die upon the tree.

Yet independence was noble and freedom good
If the creatures could chose to live as they would.

If humans could be the friend and companion of God
Instead of a machine to move at His nod.

We could share the joy of His creative power
And bask in His love from hour to hour.

So the beings were blessed with freedom from above
To think and reason with heavenly love.

It cost Him His life to make us free
But God is unselfish eternally.
