Oil and Water Do Not Mix
The Oil of the Spirit

On my trip from Baton Rouge to New Orleans yesterday as we crossed the water on the bridge I noticed how the oil from the spill on last month was settling on top of the water. As I began to pray that they get all the oil cleaned up God began to speak to me. He said Margery do you see how the oil is settled on top of the water and is not mixing with it? I said yes but why. God said just as oil and water do not mix, we have to put a difference between clean and unclean, righteousness and unrighteousness; if you are born of the Spirit your lamps should be filled with the oil of the Spirit and waiting on Jesus to come. Jesus brought forth the oil of the Spirit and He has been trying to penetrate the water for many years now. The river is deep with water as in the beginning when God created the world. Yet God brought forth a separation where he brought forth the earth, the deep, the firmament and man. The oil that is floating on top of the water causes the water to not be consumable for man or animal. Too many Christians has filled their minds with water baptism but never allowed the oil of the Spirit to penetrate their natural minds so that the Spirit can indwell in the inner man. They love the watered down version of the gospel, only want one hour of service, and when they want it but the sincere meat of the Word is neglected or denied assess. It only rests upon them. The Holy Ghost like the oil wants to come in and dwell with man.

II Corinthians 7:1-2; having therefore these promises, dearly beloved let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Receive us, we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

Romans 15:5; now the God of patience and consolation grant ye to be like minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus.

Amos 3:3; Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

For years and years now the Lord poured out of His Word unto the prophets. He revealed his secrets to the Prophets; his servants called man, knows not how to do right except they are taught. They store up things in the earth and think they are alright. St. John3:16-17; for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoso ever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Either we have oil in the lamp of our heart or we have water but not both. Jesus said we must be born of water and the Spirit. When we come into the world we are born in water (we are stored in our mother’s womb in a sack of water for nine months and fifteen days). But after we have been born again we are born of the Spirit of God. Doctor’s use a lamp to see us come into the world but Jesus is the lamp we have when we become born again. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, but that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.

The Holy Ghost wants to come into man and dwell but it does not violate man’s will. The fervent oil of the Spirit is the fire but just like that oil that sat on the waters, it only sets on top waiting to be removed. Jesus paid a great price for this redemptive oil to penetrate the minds and hearts of men. The Holy Ghost is the anointing that destroys the yoke in the lives of man. Oil in the natural is any of numerous unctuous combustible substances that are liquid or can be liquefied easily on warming, are soluble in ether but not in water and leaves a greasy stain on paper or cloth. Oil also is used by artists that paint pictures and as a cosmetic preparation. But one definition stuck out at me was that it also means unctuous or flattering speech. Oil as a verb means to smear, rub over, furnish or lubricate.

In the Spirit the oil is unctuous, combustible substance used to represent cleanliness. It is used by God’s people as a point of contact to show forth faith in what God would do. In Ezekiel 16:6-9, God after showing His love toward his people for their pollution in their sin forgave them, stopped the blood shed and anointed them with oil. Polluted in our own blood is the sin we engage in that should have taken our lives but God said live. God covers our sin with His blood; wash us with water and cleanse us from our own blood to bless us. Olive oil was used by the ancient Hebrews and was a necessary means of sustenance in Palestine. It was used both as a plain article of food and in cooking. Just as butter is used among the Westerners, the oil jar was indispensable in every house then as so we need oil today. Oil was also used for lighting, cosmetics for the hair and skin. Oil was an important product then and now. But what about the waste of the oil that is so common among men today? Oil is a figurative of the fire of the Holy Ghost. What this means is the Spirit of God is fueled up but it is not one to force entry in the heart of man that it may dwell with them. The watered down life we use to live have to be filled with the oil and fire of the Holy Ghost if we are to make it in this world. It is not enough for the oil just to sat on our shoulders, it has to be mixed with our faith and belief in the inner heart for our God.

Romans 6:6; knowing this that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed that henceforth we should not serve sin. Fresh oil to a car causes it to run much smoother than one that never gets an oil change. The oil has to be kept separate from the water, for oil and water does not mix. If for some reason it mixes together it destroys the proper running of the vehicle. The same with the Christ; once you have been saved or accepted Christ you must renew your mind in the things of Christ; Philippians 2:5, let this mind be in me which was also in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:6-8; for to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Just as God is not pleased with man wasting their time, talent, and tithe, he is not pleased with us mixing his oil in our water that won’t produce and harvest. God is not pleased with us living as sinners while we are suppose to be Christians. Christians hardly ever sin in the flesh but they have missed the fact that they can sin in the spirit as well. Our whole mind, soul, body, and spirit must be saved, healed, delivered and set free. Why do we do some of the things we do?

We look at the adulterers, fornicators, smokers and alcoholics and drunks as major sinners but we forget the inner sin in our carnal minds. I Corinthians 3:3; Paul warned the Corinth church of their spiritual oil leaking out of their lamps. For ye are yet carnal; for whereas there is among you envying and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? Ephesians 4:22-24; that ye put off concerning the former conversations the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. And be renewed in the Spirit of your mind. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Colossians 3:9-10; lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man.

We cannot put old oil in a new vessel and expect it to produce new results. As new Christians we have to cleanse ourselves from the old deeds of the flesh and perfect our spirit man with the fresh oil of the Holy Ghost. We have to season the meat of the Word with a holy lifestyle free from fleshly sin and spiritual sin. The Devil has persuaded so many people that they are okay but they really have gone so far from god. Man had the upper hand in the earth but allowed Satan reign over them when man flesh came alive and the Spirit being man originally was left. When man was created, he was created pure with everything in him to reproduce in the earth. God laid Adam down and firstly took out of him a rib and made woman. When the two came together in holy matrimony they became one again. Why did God create one man and not two of him as he did all the animals in the earth? God had created man in his own image. God being a he could not produce two of him and expect fruit to be multiplied or replenished. Two he creatures cannot and will not produce life to anything, likewise as with two women. No two women together can produce any offspring. The Devil has connived and figured out a way to cut off the reproduction cycle of man in the earth and building his kingdom on deception against God. Instead of man asking God what they need they hides from God. They run from the first sign of spirituality to hide their sin. Adam and Eve hid when they had disobeyed God when He told them not to eat of the tree of knowledge in the midst of the Garden.

The oil of the Spirit is the anointing that destroys the yoke. Satan kept Adam yoked up, kicked out of his rightful place by using the very thing made from his loins to misplace him spiritually. Satan beguiled Eve and not Adam because Adam had relationship with God and he would not be so easily deceived. Because Adam watched Eve eat of the tree and nothing happened, he did not deny the fruit when she gave it to him. Adam was not beguiled but deceived. Afterward they realized that they were naked and hid from God for they had lost their spiritual state and became fleshly. This is where the spirit that was breathed in them that made them a living soul departed. It was a new season!

The time from the beginning until Jesus came is the season of excuses for man. Now since Jesus came to bring the oil needed for new life back man have a choice to choose to allow the oil to penetrate their watered down life. Jesus came to take the blinders off their eyes that the oil of the Spirit can come in and breathe new life in them once again. The day has come that God has given mankind an heart to perceive the Spirit, eyes to see the work of the Spirit and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying. The oil of the Spirit brings forth life to the watered down creatures. Man is born of water in the womb of the woman, kept alive with water, but then when he comes to Christ he is born again of the Spirit although he lives in a fleshly body. The Lord will bless this man with everything he need. He puts strength in the man but the woman is the weaker vessel.

Satan also is spirit, but he was cast out of heaven because he was envious, jealous and covetous of what God had. Although he was the greatest worship and praise leader in heaven he became prideful and all the things he did to draw the other angels to himself got all of them kicked out of heaven to hell. They remain chained up still and Satan himself is still roaming to and fro in the earth seeking whom he can devour. Man has gone so far from God through Satan’s power of persuasion that they think it is God. The men allowed the women in churches to do what they want and they like Adam stand by and let them do the unthinkable and said nothing although he had rule. He had lost respect for what God had said to follow the ideology of his wife Eve. Although God speaks to man today to do something and because the wife or others don’t see the move of God in it they renege on what God has told them. When a spirit of pride has attached itself to man the first thing they will do is lie. They will kill someone else to get front stage attention. They will kill someone else’s vision and deceive the people into thinking that they have it all in control. Adam and Eve became aware of the flesh of their bodies after Satan caused their hearts to envy God and His position. They coveted the power God had and wanted to have equal knowledge with Him. Satan made them think that they would be equal with god but the transition they found themselves in was the life and perfect peace in God was gone. Peril, flesh and nakedness were born upon them. They had known no flesh before then. They became a man and woman of unrighteousness. Satan played a spiritual game with them that they did not understand would have spiritual costly consequences. Oil and water do not mix. Spirit and flesh does not mix either.

Knowing what we know now we must hold on to our promises. Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit and perfect holiness in the fear of God. Man today has no fear of God. It what I want and it doesn’t matter what God say. What we are saying is I am going to live my life and forget God. I have time to get straight. Think again, tomorrow is not promised.
