There's been a number of times where I've been flying here or there for ministry or other and have really longed to witness to someone, sometimes it can be a little difficult especially since earplugs, books computers and other devices have enhanced our culture in some areas and collapsed it in others, such as being social. So, I'm going to give you a few pointers to help you be a witness for Christ in the air, in as little or as much as He leads you, then I'm going to share with you my last flight home.
1) Pray before you fly and not only ask God to help the plane not to crash, but ask God to set you up with a divine appointment, then, be ready for your prayer to be answered, look for it in faith as if you've attained it.
2) Go along prayerfully and gently with what may happen next, I can assure you that after you've prayed in faith God will answer, He's been ready for a long time but uses us when we are ready. You may find a change of seating arrangement or something else could happen. I'm not saying it will, but don't get all flustered as if you've got rights or something. The change could be God's arrangement, and you could miss it if you're thinking more about the comfort of your flesh rather than someone burning in Hell.
3) Don't pounce on your witness opportunity, just wait expectantly but patiently, it may happen in the flight terminal or at the end of the flight. If you pounce, people might think you're too full on and close off, none the less, full on does work well most times, be led!
4) If the opportunity comes up, say hello to the people you're sitting next to, take the conversation a little further than just "hi how are you today, my name is.......", ask them what their name is and try to remember it, using their name to address them in the further conversation is a vital part of personal witness. It's at this point you will need to feel out the person, don't push it, unless of course the Holy Spirit is pushing for some reason. Be expressly you, not anyone else, that's where the anointing will be most powerful with you. If the conversation isn't spelling get lost, ask them what they do with their life, why they are flying and all those sort of questions, take an interest in the person, inevitably as you listen most people will ask you what you do, and as a result of having listened to them for a while they will feel it necessary to listen to you. If no further opportunity comes up and the person looks ill or has expressed that they are sick, offer to pray for them, explain you are a Christian and boldly offer the laying on of hands for healing.
5) If nothing comes up or conversation is shut down, open your Bible and start reading.....out loud.....at the top of your voice...until the stewardess tells you to shut up....nah only joking, but I bet a few of you thought I meant it.....open your Bible and read quietly to yourself, get interested in the Word you may want to take notes, or colour in parts of your Bible, but be aware that almost everyone around you both next to you and in the other seats who can see you will know exactly what your reading. I've done this a number of times, act bold as if nobody is watching, you'll be quietly surprised how many people want to read what you're reading and take a quick glance over. At some point conversation might arise from a person next to you, be ready to politely speak to them.
6) As the flight comes to an end, or even if you've landed, try to strike up a conversation again with those next to you, it's at this time that I have had many great conversations with people in those last few minutes, just remember, the totality of your witness might just be to tell people your testimony, that you are a minister of Christianity or a Christian.

Now I'm going to share with you a great personal testimony of my own the last time I flew. A few days before I had caught my flight I had watched a great testimony about a large religious group who had converted from many false doctrines and practices to right sound Biblical Christianity, they are called 'the Worldwide Church of God' and they are still operational today, but with a much better Biblical foundation. The testimony had educated me about a man called Herbert Armstrong the founder of this religious group, as well as the man that had taken the oversight after his death who had brought reform.
On the flight back from my Ministry trip a young cool looking man with an American accent sat next to me. He had his IPod in and a beanie on and only took it out to order some alcohol from the stewardess. He looked very closed and a little intimidative. I like those ones personally, so I waited, out came the Bible and away we went. Sometime later a door opened, the iPod came out I said "hi" and found this man to be one of the nicest, friendliest and open person to talk to. I didn't muck around, within 5 minutes he had heard who I was, my testimony of how I came to be a Christian and the question of "what does he believe?" Turns out, he used to go to church and his dad used to be a Pastor, which denomination or church I asked, guessed it yet, yep that's right "The Worldwide Church of God". It doesn't stop there, this man was the Grandson of the man who reformed the church.....WOW!
The Holy Ghost had set him up, and made sure that I was informed before meeting him. It was at this point that I didn't mince words, I told him that the Lord had lead me to watch a film about the churches reform and that I had asked for a soul to witness too on my flight. I asked him if he was getting the picture, he told me that he was happy with his girlfriend and his life at present, but I was able to get the Gospel of Heaven or Hell, sin, forgiveness and Judgement and fruits meet for repentance to him. He was very open, I was able to give him my card and tell him to tell his father to ring me, that I would like to talk with him, no call yet, but I've been in this game a while and many times people come round sometimes years later.
So there you go, that's one of my aeroplane witnessing for Christ occasions. Be encouraged, don't just sit on the darn plane, live for Jesus even if it is your Honeymoon and you witness all the time, witness some more, it ain't a job, we do it cos we love it, remember .....that's what being a true Christian is all about, oh and another thing....if the plane looks like it's going to go down, die with some dignity would ya, start preaching out loud and lead everyone to Christ, I'll check your story when I see you in Heaven.
