“The score was level in the local derby- and full time was near. “Penalty! Penalty! roared the crowd as a defender handled the ball in the ‘area’.
But the referee had spotted it. Blowing the whistle, he pointed to the spot. The player lined himself up for the kick of the match. The ball flew into the back of the net. A roar rose up from the crowd as the whistle blew for time. it was the deciding goal.
No one complained about the penalty. The infringement was clear, the referee could do no other than allow it.”

Infringement
An infringement in a football pitch calls for a sanction by the referee. In this case it is a penalty. And this has a spiritual parallel.
It reminds me that we are all guilty of infringing the law of God. 'For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.'
Whereas in a football pitch the team of the player who committed the infringement have to pay the price, in the spiritual arena, we are unable to pay the price of our infringement, no matter how we try. This was why we needed Jesus- the Lamb of God. If you are not sure what sin really is, here is the definition:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.1John3:4
Yes, because of the adamic nature we are sinners. We are riddled with sick-sickness. We are handicapped unable to help ourselves. No one could boast of keeping every letter of the law. That was why we needed a Saviour, a deliverer, a substitute lamb, a substance to take the place of the shadow we find in the Old Testament.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:Rom3:10
When Jesus took our place on that cross, the sinless became sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Rom3:20
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:Rom3:24
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.Rom3:28
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Rom5:1
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Gal2:16
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Gal3:11

Therefore our infringement of the law is palpably clear. And Jesus paid the penalty for us. that is why as may as received him He gave the right to become children of God..

Where do you stand? Are you born again? Have you received Christ as your Lord and Saviour? Are you depending on your righteousness or the righteousness of God in Christ?
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.1John1:8-19
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation
You and I are guilty of infringement and only by admitting it and confessing our sin can we be forgiven and become New Creatures in Christ Jesus. If you are not sure of your salvation, this is your opportunity.
