”Your word, O Lord, will last forever; it is eternal in heaven.” Psalms 119:89; “Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path.” Psalms 119:105

We have all heard of this famous phrase “Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but Words will never hurt me.”

Words are meant to build and encourage a person. It is the one of the most effective tool in communicating our feelings and providing joy and consolation to the recipient.
However, very often today, the world does the exact opposite. Words are being used to tear down a person’s esteem and confidence. Instead of making a person, it breaks a person.

The Bible is a treasury of words. The healing power of these words can never be under estimated. At any given time, the moment we read the Word of God, we feel an instant inner peace and calmness within us. St. John (1:1) tells us “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”

The Word of God ministers to us; it provides all the answers required for our life on this earth and in the world beyond. It is one of the most powerful weapon against the force of evil. Many families prefer to keep the Bible as a decorative piece on their altars. When all that is required, is to open it and read to experience the powerful and tremendous effect of the Word. It will change, heal and transform; filling us with a massive outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

A single verse or chapter read daily can do wonders. The more we read, the better we are strengthened and nourished in this journey of life. We should meditate and ponder on the richness of the Word to gain knowledge and insight. We should hunger and thirst for the Word of God which captivates us; rejoice and exalt in it. We should keep God’s words in our hearts and apply it in our daily life. The Word will purify and bring us closer in holiness to God. It will lift our spirits when we are dejected .

In the Old Testament, the Word of God was written on tablets of stone. In the New Testament, Wisdom is found in the Word and this is the wisdom that is sweet to the soul. We read in the book of Proverbs (8:11;19) that Wisdom is far better than jewels and nothing else can be compared to it. What we gain from it is more valuable than the finest gold and the purest silver.

Everyone has a ‘Writer’ hidden inside of them. All we have to do is to tap this talent and bring it to the forefront. It is the spirit from within that inspires us and guides us to write and spread the Word of God which becomes a beautiful and universal blessing in all forms.
