My Mask
The quill--a mask
This writer’s face concealed.
When nib is laid to parchment
My inner man revealed.
Thoughts take flight on Eagles wings
Tales of joy and woe.
Jots and tittles take their place
Each story must unfold.
I’ve wandered Arthur’s Camelot
Known Huckleberry Finn,
Scaled the Peaks of Everest
Was Eli Whitney’s Friend.
These eyes have witnessed Foreign Lands
On no map known to man.
I watched men build the Pyramids
Though tattered, yet they stand.
A glove designed, for me alone
My mask--my hand--are one,
A cherished friend, I know so well
We’ll scribe till day is done!

I absolutely enjoyed it. I was taken to places and times I had forgotten. What a wonderful poem. It is now one of my favorites.
