“When I slept, my heart was awake.” Song of Solomon 5:2

How often do we get a surprise visit from someone close to our hearts? We are deep in thoughts and behold, the person of our thoughts is standing in front of us.

At other times, their e.mail pops in front of our eyes or they happen to call at the precise moment that we are thinking of them. Does such a visit, e.mail or call surprise us or are we are in a state of expectancy at all times?
Do these sweet surprises of life bring us immense joy?

The Gospel tells us that The Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting Him.
Jesus himself warns us to be on our guard as this day will come upon us like a thief in the night. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, the Father alone knows.” Matthew 24:36

Have we prepared ourselves for the final day to stand before God? “ The Son of Man will come like lightning which flashes across the whole sky from the east to the west.” Matthew 24:27

Are our hearts filled with joy at the thought of meeting Him ? Will He call us the Faithful Servant? “The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other.” Matthew 24:31

Are our souls insured ? Do we have the necessary Soul Insurance to save ourselves via the Sacrament of Penance & the Eucharist in order to inherit Eternal Life? These Sacraments are mandatory in our journey on this earth to cleanse us and purify us.

Also, how do we battle and protect against the dark forces which are out to destroy us ?
One of the most remarkable and powerful advice given by St. Paul is “ Put on all the armor of God; Stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around the waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News, of peace. At all times carry faith as a shield to put out the burning arrows shot by the Evil one; Accept salvation as a helmet, and the Word of God as a sword which the Spirit gives you.” Ephesians 6:14

Let us not waste a single day. Today is the Day of Salvation.
Let us gird ourselves and be prepared to meet the Lord at whatever time He chooses to call upon us.
