Tell me Father why is it so
No one really wants to know
About the Spirit that is within
That helps them all be free of sin

No one seems to want the truth
Especially a girl, I met named Ruth
She denied your pre-sense on that day
Her back she turned and walked away

A believer she was she told me so
How is it Father she doesn’t know?
Of your pre-sense within she denied
Saddened I was and longing I cried

To understand why she knew you not
No reason nor rhyme could fit the slot
A void I felt she’d left behind
How sad I was; how unkind

Tell me Father why is it so
No one really wants to know
About the Spirit that is within
That helps them all be free of sin
