Encouragement

We harbour many feelings,
maybe we forget to talk.
Mis-communication is our pal
upon our walk.
We ignore the sunrise,
even worse, as the sun sets.
We fall asleep in ignorance,
while forgiveness, we forget.

An olive branch extended,
at that time, the fruit ignored.
Nursing our own injuries,
we turn over and snore.
Yet, the child who holds the branch
is taller, don't we see?
Cringing inward, he is offering an apology.

So, the child within us,
who was wild, but now is calm,
tears then flow like rivers
of remorse for those we've harmed.
So we grip the olive branch
our tree, our destiny.
We then forgive, as we're forgiven
through apology.

Apology accepted
we both know it sets us free.
End of all resentment
between us, both you and me.
Forgive, and we're forgiven,
which is love's philosophy.
What it all boils down to
is the grace of apology.
