Cost (Good)

We forsake our way;
for our need for God.
In our place we stay.
as the Spirit’s prods.
We have lost our right,
serving’s where we’ve won.
We have lost the fight,
while winning God’s own Son.

We have lost the fight,
while winning God’s own Son.

When the end is past,
and everything is gone.
Our crown was cast;
we have lived for the Son.
We forsook our flesh
and our pride has lost.
We have heeded Christ,
and we have counted the cost.

We have heeded Christ,
and we have counted the cost.

Clear away the dust
we have gained our desire!
We have left the rust
while gaining holy fire!
He defended our case
though our soul was lost.
We have heeded Christ,
and we have counted the cost.

We have heeded Christ,
and we have counted the cost.

We forsook our flesh
and our pride has lost.
We have heeded Christ,
and we have counted the cost.
