For Everything

For every day, every hour, every second I have lived
For every beat my heart has made, for God’s willingness to forgive
For every time I open my eyes and see a bright blue sky
For every time my soul is sad and His love dries my saline eyes

For every time I stumble and fall and He pulls me to my feet
For every time I approach Hell’s gate and He pulls me from the heat
For every season that comes and goes, for every cool spring rain
For every autumn as brown leaves fall and winter’s embrace comes again

For every word that my grandfather spoke as he told me of God’s truth
For everything that I have learned and held throughout my youth
For every time that God is there, whether I stand, or fall, or crawl
For every time, be it tragedy or triumph, He embraces me through it all

These are the things for which I’m grateful to my loving God
And these are why that I am faithful, for I shall walk where angels trod
