Daniel 1:8-"Daniel decided not to make himself "unclean" by eating the king's food and drinking his wine..." (NIrV)
He could have gone along with the crowd.
He could have rationalized that everyone else was doing it.
He could have ignored the Spirit's nudgings.
He could have decided to try it and see what happened.
Instead he decided to take a stand.
He chose to do what God says is right.
He chose to listen to the Spirit's direction.
Not only once but many times, Daniel chose to live by the principles in God's word.
While some terrible things happened to him as a result of his choices these things were not what God intended but the results of wrong decisions and choices made by others.
What were the benefits?
God always provided a way out for Daniel.
He survived being thrown in a furnace.
He survived a night in a den with hungry lions.
He became the king's trusted advisor.
His story is still being told centuries later.
Your choices matter; to you and to others who are close to you.
Will you, like Daniel, decide to do what God says is right?
