Delight
(written 2-16-04, based on Ps. 37; Phil. 2:13)

I find in me
Your holy desire.
What sets me free
To be Divine’s fire.
To die for the One,
And live for the other,
To be like Your Son,
Be gladly His brother.

Who’s there, save You,
To be my delight.
Sets me b’yond the blue,
Grants my soul flight.

Trust in the Lord,
And do His good.
Live out my life,
As nailed to wood.
Delight self in Him,
Who’s love does not part.
Who tempts not with sin,
His desire’s in my heart.

I wish to walk
As Christ on this earth,
To make evil balk,
And be Your mirth.

What greater lot
Is there for me?
You washed out my blot,
And set me free!

Free as I am,
I come to You,
Be Your son o’ man,
To show Yourself true.

Grant the desire
You’ve given me;
To be Your heart’s fire,
And so walk free.
